The days seem to be getting damper if you ask me. Sure the heat has been climbing exponentially lately but the thing I am noticing is the wealth of rain seemingly forever bombarding us. As a camp counseler I am sure you are happy to have followed our advice about stocking up on educational school supplies as well as arts and crafts supplies. Since you’ve stocked up you can make fun projects for your daytime campers even as the rain washes away their intention for fun in the sun that day.
It is incredibly important to offer these kids options. They are not going to take it upon themselves to sit quietly and draw and do art projects. Well, some will, but the rest need serious guidance in these endeavors. Fact is if you are an educator who values that aspect of their job, summer camp is not always the most stimulating work one can do. But on those rainy days you get to slip right back into your teacher’s cap and out of your babysitter’s cap. It is a great way to try out new arts and crafts projects and to test your campers to be the best they can be. Not to mention it’s plain old fun.
